The World Health Organization Global Burden of disease Report, on Mental and Neurological disorders highlighted the Critical situation our World faces with a Growing Population that Includes those with Autism. The report demonstrated that traditional Epidemiological methods of disease had been Greatly Underestimating Mental and Neurological disorders by tracking mortality, Not disability rates, which it estimates Accounts for almost 11 percent of the Global Disease Burden. The study Concluded that the proportionate share of the Total Global Burden of the disease due to neuropsychiatric disorders is projected to Rise to 14.7 percent by 2020.
Globally, nearly 195 million children, younger than 5 years old, are undernourished.
Many children find themselves fighting to stay alive each day. Whether they are mentally disabled,handicapped, poor, orphaned or missing, to live in poverty,and abusive situations many go to bed in fear of abuse, without life's basic essentials including shelter, food, water, health care, education or being loved. Our most vulnerable children face each day with no hope. Each year more than 10 million children never make it to their 5th birthday. Most of these lives could have easily been saved.
The inspiration for When Children CRY came from Teri Broadstreet, a mother who has a special needs child, as well as having been a therapuetic foster parent and mentor to many children that are differently abled, damaged, broken, neglected and/or abused. When Children CRY developed from frustrations of trying to accomodate these children's needs in our public schools only to discover many closed doors. After time and again of hearing frustrations from other parents of children with special needs she decided to do something to make a difference. She took action and that's when,When Children CRY was born.
As our Mission and Vision, When Children CRY seeks to become a powerful national organization dedicated to leading lasting community changes by bringing an awareness and addressing the underlying causes of the most significant issues, causing failure of our community systems to provide proper protection, education, and care for our impoverished and/or broken & disturbed children and their families.They are at the Worlds mercy and unable to do this for themselves. We must help our children. When individuals can heal with the help of a loving heart we All win.
